Graphic of text: "visit the Travelling2 shop and explore the Victorian gardens"

Mill Yard Café is in the pretty village of Morland in Cumbria's Eden Valley on the edge of the Lake District.

The neighbouring Travelling2 shop in the stables of Morland House offers a unique range of high quality travel clothing for men and women.

You are welcome to explore the four acre Victorian gardens of Morland House including the Rose Garden, the Beck Walk and the Quarry Garden.

See Morland church with the only Saxon tower in the North West of England - the oldest building in Cumbria still in daily use for its original purpose.

Morland is seven miles south east of Penrith in the centre of the Penrith, Appleby and Shap triangle, less than 15 minutes from Junctions 39 and 40 of the M6. It is in the Eden Valley, centrally situated for the Lake District, the Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales, Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall. Carlisle, Kendal and Keswick are all 25 miles, or 40 minutes drive. The picturesque village is surrounded by lush rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling.

Maps of local walks and bike rides are available in the café and:

  • the Eden Valley circular cycle route runs through Morland
  • national cycle route number 71 runs nearby

Please see Cumbria Tourism's Go Lakes site for more information about local activities.
